I'm René Michaud, the owner and principal photographer of Bliss Photographic.
Each day, this profession has me excited to get out of bed and get at it, with these ever-present questions in my mind: "what's next?" and "how can I do this better?" After 5 years of photography as a hobby and 15 years as a full-time career, it's still my favourite thing to do and I can't imagine doing anything else.
Like many of you, I have loved and lost, and I use my passion for photography to slow life down, even just for a moment. Through highs and lows, I am an explorer of life, a son, brother, friend, uncle, and soulmate. My passion lies in the exploration of light; photographing people and the moments in their lives. What matters most to me is being able to create that image that you'll love forever.
Am I the right photographer for you? If you've read this far, chances are good that I might be. If you like what you see in my portfolios, feel free to connect with me and we'll set something up. Browse, look, enjoy, and thank you for stopping by Bliss Photographic.
After studying under Rene for five years as an assistant and second photographer, Arden Shibley is now offering his services as a primary photographer with Bliss Photographic. This enables us to offer Arden's unique touch with a Bliss Photographic flavour at an all new price point:
My name is Arden Shibley, I'm a photographer, visual artist, and BFA New Media graduate.
From a young age, I've participated in high intensity sports, and my passion for high pressure environments became the inspiration and fuel for my photography career.
René once asked me "Do you just Google everything you see?" and the answer I gave was "almost". I've always been the one asking questions to see how it works or if it can be done differently. This translates back to my exploration as a visual artist; I enjoy guidelines and structure, industry and design. Even if it's challenging, if it means creating something new, I'll do it.
When I'm not shooting, you'll find me on the road bike, in the mountains, or diving an ocean shipwreck. I also like to challenge myself regularly, working on TV shows and music videos.
From experience, I know that a beautiful image evokes emotion and conveys an element of truth. These are the photos that inspire. These are the photos you'll want to see again every day. In truly moving imagery, pace and presence are key.
While working creatively since 2008, I've been fortunate to gain a diverse set of skills under mentorship by some of the best in the industry. Whether I'm capturing families, high performance sports, or even the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia (true story), I work to create exceptional imagery each and every day.
